The Club was formed in the 1960s as a Sub-Centre of the North-East Centre. In 1971 it became a centre in its own right. In its early years, Gordon Douglas acted as the Chairman and Secretary and was the driving force behind many of the activities. Backed up by the committee, events such as Twelve Car Rallies, Treasure hunts, Road Trials, Production Car Trials, Autotests and Karting were organised. Today the Centre arranges a wide variety of events including three major road runs namely The Old Speckled Hen Run, The Prince Bishops Run and the Cobweb Run.
The MG Car Club is quite naturally focused on MGs, however people who own vehicles of all makes are most welcome to join in any of our activities.
